As part of bird photography, I get up early and hike. Sometimes I make wildlife finds beyond birds. Coyotes are gradually repopulating San Francisco and its surroundings. Here, I saw a coyote which was in the middle of eating what I determined later to be a raccoon.

Coyotes are omnivorous predators, who eat fruits, nuts, small animals, and also roadkill. Due to the decomposition of the raccoon’s body, it’s most likely that the Coyote scavenged the raccoon rather than hunted it.
